Meek and Quiet Spirit

The Strength of Stillness: Embracing a Meek and Quiet Spirit

February 08, 20253 min read

I have been praying for the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit .

It’s such a beautiful thought—that God Himself calls this spirit an ornament. Not just any ornament, but one that, in His sight, is of great price (1 Peter 3:4). I am so captivated by that...just knowing that God refers to that in such a special way...and the phrase lingers in my heart. In a world that celebrates the loud, the bold, the unfiltered, and the outspoken, this verse gently calls me back to something different.

Something sacred.

Something that isn’t trending, but is timeless in its worth.

Redefining meekness

The word meek is often misunderstood. Society equates it with weakness, with passivity, with being a doormat. But in reality, meekness is strength under control. Did you know that? It is power wrapped in humility. It is confidence that doesn’t need to demand attention. And it's actually a beautiful thing!

A woman who carries a meek and quiet spirit is not powerless—far from it! She is anchored. Steady. Unshaken by the noise of the world because her security isn’t rooted in people’s opinions, but in Christ alone. She doesn’t strive for external validation because her identity is already sealed in Him.

Meek and Quiet Spirit

The quiet strength that speaks volumes

The more I read God’s Word, the more I see His perfect and beautiful plan for an abundant life—not one dictated by the world’s shifting standards, but one marked by deep peace, unshakable joy, and an intimate walk with Him.

While the culture rages, fights, and demands its own way, I feel a deep longing for more of Him. The stillness of His presence. The wisdom of His Word. The peace that surpasses understanding. And I find no offense there—only rest.

The world may try to twist and distort the truth, painting Christ-followers as out of touch or even oppressive. But Jesus didn’t come to suppress and control; He came to bring freedom through Truth and Love. And as His daughters, we are called to reflect that love—not through harsh arguments, but through fervent charity (1 Peter 4:8).

Living Out the Beauty of a Meek and Quiet. Spirit

So what does this look like in our daily lives?

It means we don’t have to prove ourselves to the world. We don’t have to fight for attention or argue for our worth. We walk in bold faith, with passionate purpose, and with a heart of peace. We come to realize the precious gift it is to embody this "ornament", as our Lord so affectionately calls it.

A meek and quiet spirit is not silent—it speaks volumes through grace, wisdom, and a presence that draws others in rather than pushes them away. It’s a posture of trust, a heart at rest, a life surrendered to God’s perfect plan.

And I don’t know about you, but I want to live like that! Not swept up in the chaos, not striving for control—but steady, anchored, and full of His peace. Why would we not want to please our Heavenly Father?

Let’s become that deep source of strength and influence. Let’s wear the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit with joy, knowing that in the eyes of our Creator, it is of great price.
